Walls deserve a little life, and a blue-and-white porcelain wall vase brings it without taking up a single inch of shelf space. Its back is cut flat, so it hangs flush against the wall from one small hook — no bulky bracket, no tilting.

Glazed and watertight, it keeps cut stems, pennywort, or lucky bamboo fresh for weeks. With three shapes to choose from, you can mix and hang them together for a quiet botanical arrangement.

  • Blue-and-white porcelain with a flat back for a flush wall hang
  • Hangs from one small hook
  • Glazed and watertight to keep stems fresh for weeks
  • Three shapes to mix and hang as a set

Overview

A narrow section of wall often remains bare because neither a picture nor a shelf fits. It could use some greenery, but there is no horizontal surface nearby to hold a plant pot.

Azure has a flat rear that lets it hang closely against plaster from one hook. Seen head-on, it resembles an entire vessel decorated in blue and white; viewed sideways, it is half that form. This slim construction fits areas where other objects cannot go.

Care

Wash it by hand using warm water and a little washing-up liquid. The non-porous glaze does not stain. Refresh the water at intervals of a few days, as for other vases. Remove waterline marks using a little white vinegar or a bottle brush.

Materials

White porcelain carries traditional cobalt-blue underglaze decoration: scrolling lotus motifs across the body, with petal and key-fret borders. A finely crackled, clear glaze seals the blue-and-white finish.

  • A style: height 13.2 cm, body 7.5 cm, opening 4.5 cm
  • B style: height 13.5 cm, body 8.3 cm, opening 3.8 cm
  • C style: height 14.5 cm, body 7.5 cm, opening 4.0 cm
  • Hanging: Flat rear surface; use one small nail, adhesive pad or hook

For awkward strips of wall space

Bring a plant to the narrow hallway strip that cannot take a picture, the space above a light switch or the area next to a door frame. These places lack a surface for a pot. One hook supports the vase where a shelf cannot fit, and it extends only a little farther from the wall than a nearby light switch.

Decorative, and useful too

A vase for water

Glazing and sealing throughout the porcelain make this more than a pocket for artificial stems. Fill it with tap water and add three freshly cut stems or two lucky bamboo stalks. Replenish the water as the level drops. You can also display dried stems or artificial ones just as readily.

Hang a set

Three shapes, staggered

Choose a pear shape with facets and a trumpet neck, a broad globe below a tall trumpet neck, or a taller baluster standing on a flared foot. A matching cobalt lotus-scroll pattern links all three. For a grouped display, stagger their heights and leave about a hand's width between pieces.

Solved the strip beside my front door

I have a section of hallway about thirty centimetres wide between the door and the coat hooks, and nothing had ever worked there. Hung the 13.5 cm one at eye height on a single adhesive hook, three stems of pennywort in it, water changed once a week, still going strong a month later. It sits closer to the wall than the light switch next to it.

Striking as a set of three

Ordered all three styles and hung them at staggered heights across the wall above the console. Together they look properly deliberate, and because they all carry the same cobalt pattern they group without competing. Well worth doing more than one if you have the space.

The painting is better than the price suggests

Close up the cobalt is rich and deep, with real weight to the lotus scroll rather than looking printed on. There is a very fine crackle over the white glaze that makes it read older than it is. Mine has held water for six weeks with no seeping at all.

Frequently asked questions

What are their dimensions?
Choose from A, measuring 13.2 cm high; B, at 13.5 cm; or C, at 14.5 cm. All are roughly coffee-mug height. A single piece fits a slim patch of wall, while combining all three at different heights creates a display that fills an entire wall.
Will water stay inside?
Yes. Fully glazed, sealed porcelain makes it suitable as a usable vase. Add water with cut blooms, a sprig of pennywort or two lucky bamboo stalks, topping it up every few days. Artificial or dried stems are equally suitable for display.
How is it mounted?
Its flat-cut rear surface rests directly against the wall. Hang it using one small nail, an adhesive pad or a cup hook; it does not require a structural fixing.
How do the three available shapes differ?
Only the forms differ: each has white porcelain with a matching cobalt lotus-scroll design. A combines a faceted pear-shaped body with a trumpet neck. The broadest body belongs to B, a wide globe beneath a taller, slimmer neck. C is tallest, with a baluster form narrowing below high shoulders into a decorated, flared foot. Mixing the three is part of their design.
Are individual pieces different?
Yes, slightly. Blue colour depth varies between individual vases, and each glaze has its own fine crackle pattern. These small differences give each piece an individual finish. The dimensions, shapes and underlying decorative design remain the same across pieces.
